Hey guys;
I'm on the lookout for an FDE or DLC XM and I'm hoping to get some feedback on how the finish stands up in real world use. I've seen pics of the nice collectibles but hoping some folks can post pics of their daily users. I like the standard stonewash finish because normally the small scuffs don't show but I know on my bead blasted sebbie scales the daily scuffs really show up. Thanks guys!

Very little hides the scars of use like the standard SW finish. My FDE is posted in a few threads on here. It's a user, but not my primary. I haven't tried to clean it up, just wipe it off here/there.

I cannot post a fresh photo right now or I would.

Couple cellphone shots...

This XM has only been used very little (as I've only been carrying it since the first of the year) and Slicers are always secondary to my primary Spantos (except in the case of the 3").

(You guys may notice the PS scale has been replaced...it's now on an early G4 Slicer.)

N2K, have you ever put an orange scale on that? I always think orange and brown look really good together. I'd love to see a pic if you have.

Negative.

I thought about it...and textured c/f too. But both buck the subtle disposition of the FDE. It's not reflective and blends well in a lot of environments / etc.

I do have orange on two of my XMs though...neither is DLC but both rock bronze ano. (one over SB).

ETA: Both the Orange G10 and textured c/f look nice with the FDE....it all very much depends on what "you" like and how "you" plan to use the tool.

Good point. "functionally" they wouldn't really make sense together.

Most things I post are from a "user" mindset. Not to imply a darn thing in any way to any person or group! I'm just saying that for me and how "I like to roll" this/that is my thought(s).

Like I mentioned, the orange does look good on the FDE...if you don't mind half-azzed photos I'll post one of an orange XM set atop the FDE.

N2K, your FDE is pretty much a perfect setup, the tone on tone is deadly - thanks for posting. Is that the matching FDE scale or OD scale? The "user" patina is not so bad actually - I thought the marks on the blade would be more distracting but I think the patina should get better and better with use. Officially now on the most wanted list. Cheers.

OD Green on this one.

I think all these knives are stunning in apperance when brand new, but beautiful when they take on character from use over time.

Don't bluff...:D

If that FDE Spanto ever needs a new home...;)

Posted this elsewhere, I'll get more up as I use it.. Oh, there's another FDE Spanto on the exchange…
