For the Leeks with the black coated handles.

1) How do they compare in grippyness to the plain leeks? Still slippery? Better?

2) Do they leave fingerprints like crazy?

3) Will it wear off easily, or still be mostly good a few years later?

These are just a few examples from my Leek collection of the DLC vs plain. The top one (Random Leek) has been used a ton. The DLC has remained quite well and it is grippier than the regular Leek. That being said the Leek is a comfortable knife but it is not very grippy in general. If you have sweaty or wet hands it will be slippery even the DLC models. As for fingerprints, unless you are displaying them they are fine.

I had a DLC Leek at one point. Definitely adds a little more to the grip, so that's a plus.

It was, however, a magnet for fingerprints. Great knife, though!

If you want a little more grip, go with a G10 Leek. Hard to find, but nice little slicer.

Better yet, the G10 Tanto is about the best. Slightly stronger blade with G10 scales.

I think the aluminum Leeks have the best grip. Not because the anodizing is grippy, but because the knife handle is a couple mm thicker. It doesn't sound like alot, it's still a thin knife, but it fills the hand slightly better.

Dude the only place he will be able to find one of those is your house, lol. I certainly agree with your suggestion of the G10 leeks.

I always liked the grip on the aluminum as well.

I sure can't find a random leek plain blade its almost like they never existed!!

I have had both over the years. The black coating was not very durable and will show signs of wear immediately. It will still be dark and less reflective, but it will not look brand new for long.

I had two of those 1660TG10 Leeks, but sold one to a really nice guy that owns a bunch of other Leek variants.. :-)

Both of the G10 versions are very nice!
