DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) Coating Question

Total noob on this subject. I have a knife that has DLC coating and is pretty beaten up.

1. Is it okay to get another DLC coating on it to clean up the scratches? I don't want it to change the performance of my knife.
2. I found companies that will do large amounts but is there any company/individual out there who will do a personal coating?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
 
It's a badge of honor to your knife to show its ware.

(I don't know for sure but off the top of my head I'd say not many work with DLC)
