I accuired a while ago a decent German hand-made straight razor but as usual it wasn't exactly shave ready and needs a bit of sharpening. I know I could send it off to someone to have it sharpened but I'd rather do it myself since I am able to get a hair popping edge on my regular knives.
So first I was set on the Norton 4k/8kbut since it's a bit pricey I never really got around to getting it (other purchases have KINDA gotten in the way) and the DMT's I had seen were a bit pricey as well.
So a couple days ago I saw that Knifeworks had received 4" DMT whetstones with an interrupted surface, and they were like 20$ a piece so for 40$ I could get an extra fine (1200) and extra extra fine (8000). I know DMT is another popular option but I was wondering:
Is the 4x1 inch stone is too small to sharpen a razor?
and
Will the edge be consistent using the interrupted surface?
Thanks a lot in advance
