DMT Aligner Broken In or Broken?

I bought a DMT cheater to do some mobile or quick reprofiling. I also bought the x-course with the set. A couple of the first jobs were on a 9” o1 tool steel blade and that Mora insulation knife sold as an lightweight machete. I was rushing a bit and impatient and both of these knives were harder steel than I thought they would be. I was running out of time so in my haste and frustration I aggressively overworked this system. I did not finish and just threw it all in a box for later. Later I called DMT and they we somewhat upset with how I misused their product, rightfully so. In my mind I had imagined that it would remove material more aggressively than it does. I have made up with my DMT and have used it a number of times on medium and smaller projects. I know (at least I think I know) that diamonds get better with use. A friend had an very old blue handle 8” ez-lap that was amazing. I have a couple of the black handle ez-laps and the smaller brass handle one which is broken in.

Did I ruine my DMT system as the DMT company suggested maybe the case or did I break it in? Is there any way to tell? I think I would rather start over than to beat a dead horse. I was planning to have these for some time and was counting on them breaking in.

Is it a good idea to artificially accelerate the aging of one of the black handle EZ-Laps so all three of those would be broken in different or is that too close to matter much? If a good idea any suggestions on doing this?
