This may be common knowledge, however I haven't seen mention of it yet. DMT offers an XX coarse interrupted stone that fits the aligner stone holder. It can be found in the Ski section of their product line. I hope this link works:

I ordered one from Allprotools, however it took them about three weeks to get one in stock. They may have a few now.
I refreshed my back bevel on my ZDP Endura and the stone worked beautifully with the aligner. I almost wish I had saved my money on my d8xx. Once I got hooked into the aligner, I could grind away like crazy. I am almost convinced that I can do more work with this stone and the aligner than I can do with the eight inch stone. Also this stone is much more effective at grinding steel right against the tang, although there is still room for improvement in this area. It seems that only part of the edge of the stone actually has diamonds, but it is still much more effective in this area than the d8xx.
One other advantage is that you can put more abuse on this stone and grind a little harder than you would on the expensive d8. You won't feel it in the pocket so much if you have to replace this stone.
Of coarse, using the aligner limits how low you can grind a bevel, but the bevel line comes out perfect.
In short, the DMT WS4XX gets a two thumbs up. :thumbup: :thumbup:
