So, my sharpening supplies are rather adequate between my DMT blue, red, and green as well as my sharp maker, 2 sided carborunddum and bastard files (for machetes/axes) and a nice little pocket arkansas... But for reprofiling it might be a bit slow, or perhaps I'm a bit impatient.

I used to swear by freehand, but that was when I had the luxury of time to tinker and get the perfect edge. The sharp maker is just so much easier these days. In fact, I've been using it as a make-shift jig by leaning my DMT coarse up against the 30* inclusive stones to reprofile. Now, this works fairly well and rapidly set the bevel on my D4 but other knives such as my (much abused) Native or my Camilus-Becker BK11 are taking a huge amount more time. Will the DMT XC provide a significant improvement in speed for setting a rough bevel or am I just too impatient? I can say the difference between the red (fine) and blue (coarse) was huge, so I am optimistic, but I just can't budget an experiment at the moment.

C cuts fast.
XC cuts faster
XXC cuts faster still.

The difference is definitely noticeable.:p
