DMT D8EE - is this normal?

Just got it in the mail and the thing has quite a few dings and small scratches in the surface. I doubt they'll make a difference in use, but just wondering if its normal for the Diasharp blocks to have some surface imperfections. Not picking nits here, these are easily visible to the naked eye with ordinary lighting. The diamond plating appears to extend into the imperfections though it would probably look that way whether the damage had occurred before or after the block was processed.

They look like that, the diamond coating is so thin its transparent. Nothing you see will effect the edge

Ahh, good news. That's what I figured, but nice to know from another owner.

It'll look worse as you use it. Don't worry about it.
