Trying to figure out which set would be best to get. Would the c/f be best or xc/c and c/f be better for diafold? Or would it be better to just get all three or just 2 of the minis? I want something that I can carry with me for edc or camping.

Coarse/fine with a broken piece of ceramic rod to about the same length is a nice combo.

Why not the DMT Credit Cards and put them in an altoids tin? Should set you back around $30 from what I've seen for the C/F/EF pack. You can probably toss in a small piece of leather to use as strop in there as well if you really wanted to. I've heard of people spending a few dollars to buy some velcro to attach to the stones and the altoids tin so they can secure it to it to make sharpening easier. Or pick up one of those sticky dashboard mats and cut it down to size to fit in the tin so when you find a flat surface it will be more securely held in place. That is actually what I do with my stones from the aligner as I prefer to freehand and the dashboard mat works quite well. (Same thing applies to the C/F/EF mini combo as does the cred card sized stones, though it may be slightly harder to use the smaller stones)

Just got in my DMT aligner with those stones the coarse is good for setting up the ground work if it's been neglected or abused, the fine is good for giving you a sharp edge that feels like it has micro serrations, and the extra fine takes that micro serration feel away. This is from my limited experience with the stones, hope it helps.

I would go with the C/F diafold for camping if you wanted a diafold this way if you screwed up the blade doing something you can quickly repair it on the course grit. Doing that type of work on the fine grit alone would be a bit annoying if it was your lowest grit. Though for more urban EDC I go with a F/EF where you mostly slay rogue cardboard boxes and envelopes unless you tend to find more abuse things to do with a knife than it's back to the C/F.

And yes Fine is capable of giving you a razor edge but it will feel like it has micro serrations from my limited experience. EF takes that way and gives a smoother cut.

From an EDC perspective I think the DMT credit cards/mini's would be surperior than the diafold. It may be thicker in an altoids tin but it's smaller in length and won't draw suspicion. And you can make it more versatile than a single diafold by putting in the C/F/EF + strop in there.

I picked up my brother the DMT Fine mini-sharp keychain when I bought the aligner so he has something to toss on his keychain or backpack since he uses his knife for work. It is actually quite a bit bigger than I imagined and would personally annoy me if it were on my keychain, though from quickly handling it for a few seconds it would get the job done though. And it was nice how it slid out and allowed you to sharpen while holding onto the plastic piece giving you decent real estate on the stone. So measure it out and ask yourself if you want that on your keys. And if you want to sharpen a knife that way.

I was thinking that it would be a pain for keychain.
Would the dia fold fit snug against a wallet? Cause if so then a f/ef seems like it would be perfect for edc.
I try to keep what I edc very un bulky. I constantly trim down my wallet for that reason cause i carry it in the front (butt pocket bothers me and it messes up ur back)

I carry the Dia-Sharp card in EF for everyday. It works fine for touch ups and with a bit of work will work out a nick or two, no problem. I also glued a piece of leather to the back for stropping.

The Dia-Fold will be pretty big - not something you would keep along with your wallet, less you have cargo pockets or something.

The keychain one isn't badly sized.

Sounds like your like me and keep your wallet in your front pocket, if it's the same pocket as your EDC a Diafold will probably be fighting for pocket space and be a bit uncomfy. I use my credit cards with money wrap around it with a rubber band instead of a wallet to keep the bulk down myself. But I find anything more than that and my EDC knife if it's clipped to the pocket will get annoying to carry.

If you try to keep the bulk down in your wallet I will assume the credit card sharpeners are out, I wouldn't carry it that way myself due to bulk anyway.

Though if you wear blue jeans the DMT mini's (not the keychain) should be able to fit into your watch pocket without issue. I would just cut up an old credit card (any plastic) to length and put it in front of the exposed grit to protect it from getting clogged and than throw a rubber band around it. The rubber band will serve 3 purposes to keep the stones together if your carrying F/EF, keep the protective shield you made attached, and add resistance to the stones so it doesn't fall out if you move around a lot. As for comfort I have put knives that are about 3.5in in length in that pocket and found it comfortable and forgot they were there (though I feel better with ones that have a clip in that pocket unless it fits all the way in or I use a rubber band). If you want to see if that be comfortable pick up a pack of trident gun will be close to the dimensions of 3 of the DMT mini's together but not as wide, carry it for a day and see how it feels.

I learned this trick since I EDC a traditional slipjoint a wear khakki pants which love to spill everything out of the pockets especially my phone and knife (only brand I found that fits my build sadly). When I attach the knife to my rubber band wallet it will stay securely in place and not budge once it falls to the bottom of my pocket. If I didn't use that rubber band I would have lost my knife, money, credit cards a million times over already.

What minis are those
I only see the mini with keychain and mini jone which have a long handle
Also i dont have a watch pocket so that wont work for me
As for the wallet ones would one stone add much size to it because if not then that could work

The mini without keychain seems like it would be a pain to sharpen with since its so short

For edc I wouldn't carry any of the minis as they are too bulky I would just carry a diamond rod. The might is work great on 3 inch or smaller blade lengths. They work nice and fast. It sometching I would store in a pack though and not a keychain.

Hahahaha i do have a watch pocket lol. Nvr really noticed it on these pants.

70 mm Mini-Stone Diamond Whetstone, are the ones I was talking about but now that you point it out getting the keychain ones so you have something to hold would work better.

The only thing is that id probavly use my knife until it gets duller so id probly want the fine and extra fine
