DMT Diamond Wave?????

Maybe I'm the only person here who has wood carving chisels, gouges, hook knives, and other curved blades, but I'm guessing not.

Has anybody used the DMT Diamond Wave for honing? I have a set of DMT cones, but they have no grit on the concave side, (maybe that's why they were for sale on ebay).

Obviously, they're pretty fine abrasive (600 and 1200 grit) so there's work to be done ahead of them. I can always use fine sandpaper (in the remote liklihood you're reading this and don't know about it, my favorite source is the body work section of the auto parts store) on the concave sides of my cones to do that, but it seems like the Wave might be a bit more convenient.

Any experience with these? Or brilliant, convenient dirt cheap alternatives?

I only use a few curved chisels and have never let them get dull enough to need a heavy grit. For honing an inside curve I use an appropriate diameter dowel with CrO (green compound) on it. For outside curves I use the chisel to carve a matching trough in a soft wood and hone with that. Never felt the need for anything beyond that but if your chisels are really beat up the DMT might be OK.
