I recently purchased a few diafolds and the three available grits of their "credit card" style stones. After working with the diafold and having no issue, I started working on breaking in the coarse card sharpener. After it's initial flaking action I cleaned it off and continued. To my dismay the grit no longer seems to be removing metal, and the blade in fact feels as though it's skating over the top of the diamonds. I'm not sure what the issue here is but any thoughts/comforting words would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try rubbing it on a piece of glass. If it cuts (scratches) the glass, you have just broken it in, and it will continue to work for many years.

This is not an uncommon misconception. Please don't worry about it, I've been there.
