For those of you that have them. I'm looking to get the X Coarse, Coarse, and maybe the Fine or Extra Fine. I'll use the Diamond stones before moving to waterstones. I know that these come in single and double sided with these combinations, do I want the single or double? thanks

The diasharps are the continuous surface and the duosharps are a interrupted surface. I like the diasharps more because they feel more like a stone and the duosharps feel bumpy. I also feel like the diasharps work a little faster. Can't go wrong with either but I would go with the 8x3 diasharps unless you do a lot of large 8+ inch fixed blades.

Thanks knifenut! you're the person I was hoping would respond to my questions. Should I get the double sided/combo stones or the individual?

Its kinda personal preference, I decided on the 8x3 because it was the only benchstones that offered the EEF stone. The 8x3 only come in single side so if you wanted dual you would need to go with another size, I think the 6x2 are the only double sided diasharps.

knifenut turned me on to the EEF stone and it is just incredibly impressive. I would be surprised if you used water stones again if you had the chance to use the EEF, it is just that good.

Im fighting this battle in my head right now. One of the very first post-holiday-oh-s***-I-have-no-money-left purchases (haha, sorry) will be EITHER a 4k and 8k Shapton Glasstone, or an D8EE. Ive been MORE than impressed with the Diasharps I have now (X,C,F,E), and using an Arkansas Black as my "intermediate" stone before stropping. We shall see. Knowing me, I'll end up with both by spring time :D
