DMT extra extra fine diasharp

Can anybody show me a side picture of the edge of a knife that's been sharpened on a extra extra fine (3 micron) dmt stone?

And for extra credit a picture of the edge that's been stropped on the 1 micron diamond paste?

I was curious to see how polished the edge looks on the stone and the paste before I take the plunge and buy them.
 
Take a look at my threads, I have a recent one about the EEF and lots with pictures of 1 micron polished edges.
 
Keep in mind, and KN will back me on this as its his info I am basing this off of, the DMT EE requires a lengthy break in to produce the finish level in the pics you found. That's the one thing holding me back from snapping one up (oh yeah, and its Christmas and I'm broke till January's commission check comes in lol).
 
Yes, results can take some time but if you use high wear resitant steels and want to get the most out of them in sharpening this stone is a god send. It works well with all steels but especially CPM steels, if your sharpening mostly carbon or low alloy stainless other finishing stones would likely be a better choice just much slower than the diamond.

I was always under the belief that a polished edge was the sharpest, but now i believe that it depends on what you are going to use the edge for. Bob Dozier uses a 200 grit diamond and then strops. You can see the coarse edge on his knives and they are sharp. It you are cutting the coarse edge acts like micro serrations, sharp micro serrations, but serrations all the same. I have been using a coarser stone to sharpen lately instead of finer. I finish my chisels at work on an 8000 grit water stone, so i am used to a fine polish, but my coarse sharpened knives really feel, cut, and stay sharp.
 
The debate of polished or coarse will never end but I bet if I showed you a 60k or 100k edge your opinions would change again ;)
 
The extra-extra fine Diasharp is included in the Magnaguide quad kit, right?

If so, which place has the best price on it? (Sorry if this's considered dealspotting)
 
Amazon has it for a good price and AFAIK you must buy it separate.
