DMT Stones, Very impressed

I just got my shipment of Dmt duosharp benchstones in yesterday and immediately put them to the test. I must say that I'm very impressed with how quick they cut and the way they created a burr. I created a 15 degee angle out of 2 pieces of 2*4s (Very similar to Knifenuts method in the videos he made). Overall I'm very happy and impressed. I've got the EEC, EC, C, F, EF, and the EEF. Once I'm done with the EEF I continue on with the 15,0000 by Shapton to give the blade a nice mirror finish and a bit more sharpenss. I guess the next step would be stropping with some leather to give it that ultra scary sharpness but for now I'm very satisfied.

Glad to hear you're pleased with them. I just ordered somecoarse, fine, extra fine and extra extra fine 8" stones. I can't wait to try them out. I've been using Ark. stones. Hoping to speed up the process.

I agree, i started with diafolds early this year and have recently bought the full range of dmt benchstones and pastes. After having used only waterstones i am really impressed with the diamonds.
For freehanding with benchstones, diamonds are indeed a very good choice. Knifenut is an advocate of the diamonds and he is highly experienced with them. His advice on using them with descriptions of the results was very good.
I'm sold on them too, especially for use with harder and tougher steels

The stones are actually diasharp not duosharp. My mistake from the 1st post.

I hear you on that arkansas stone. That will take you forever. Even my 220 Shapton takes forever to create a burr. My Shaptons do a great job though and I love the mirror finish that you get with em in the end. Now I'm not dissing the Shaptons. They are great too. But I think I could've used more coarse stones before jumping into the fine stage (I only have the 220, 2000, 6000, and 15000). I've realized through the dmt's that 220 to 2000 is quite a leap. The dmt's I have are great, but I need to practice a bit more to get those scratches out. I'm pretty sure I'm adding too much pressure.

Is the 8in EEF two sided? Both sides look to be identical.

I thought this info might be helpful for some, so here it is.

Tonight I furthur investigated the use of my DMTs. I decided to mix the Shaptons in along with the DMTs. I worked my benchmade with blade s30v on the EEC, then EC, C, F, and EF. I didn't continue onto the EEF this time. Instead, I used my 3 Shapton glass stones starting at the 2000, then 6000, and finally the 15,000. The results were phenomenal. I got a very nice mirror edge along with a face shaving edge. I'm very, very, impressed. Wow.

At last, finally, I can sleep tonight. Ahhh.

+1 on the DMT stones. I'm also really fond of the Steelex holder. Built like a tank and easy to adjust.

I find the DMT Coarse to be more than aggressive, but I can sense some relief and excitement from the OP, about a breakthrough. This is what it is all about. Welcome to the world of edginess. You are in a good place.
