Can someone give me the skinny on the DMT line. Specifically why to get an interrupted or non interrupted stone? How do the diamond whetstones play into this?

I prefer the diasharps. No holes= more even edges, plus easier to sharpen up tips. You just gotta keep em wet and clean. The Whetstones are the ones with holes mounted on a base, that's all

Excellent info. Thanks everyone. I've gotta go find a cheap XX coarse now.

So theyre all water stones?
Technically, no. Typically when we say "waterstone", we are refering to Japanese Waterstones, which have to be soaked in water prior to use, and then flushed with water during use.

With the DMT's, you simply put a couple of drops of water on them. This helps float the metal up out of the nooks and crannies. The same principal as you use on Arkansas oil stones - you put a couple of drops of oil on these to float the metal up out of the stone as you sharpen.
