DMT wave???

Interesting. Looks like something that would give me fits. I have toughenough time with 2D stones. 3D would surely kick my butt.

I bet it sells and works well in the right hands.

That looks AWESOME! I'll definitely be getting my hands on one of those.

Being a sharpening tool for wood working tools I don't know how well it will work for knives. Seems like it would be very hard to use with a knife.

I'm thinking that humped up area would act a lot like my Spyderco profile stones in that they reach into to hawkbill area.

Like a wrapping sandpaper around a rod would... but this would be Diamonds :D

I've seen that gadget before and wondered the same thing. I came to the conclusion that it wouldn't work, that the feature that makes it unique and perfect for curves/recurves is also the thing that makes it ineffective. Since the arced/waved/curved surface is a continuous, gradual increase/decrease, the exact point at which it becomes a perfect fit for a blade curve is limited and fleeting. I'm not sure if I'm explaining that well. Do you know what I mean?

Do you know what I mean?

Yep...it'd be a major PITA likely. First, and the biggest issue to me, is that it would be impossible (so it seems from the pic I should say) to really get to the ricasso. Heck I have to concentrate to get to it all the way up using my dia-sharps. Otherwise keeping it a constant angle throughout the stroke seems like you'd have to have hand-eye coordination roughly on the level between a Jedi knight and Spiderman

I've been thinking about it. How would they stand on the table, though? They don't seem to have any sort of a solid base.

This product would address the problems (which I outlined in my previous post) I think the wave would have. With this gadget it would be a PITA to hold the correct curve while getting any serious sharpening done, especially since it's so small, but the potential is at least there.
