this stone comes in 2 forms (at least); a 6 inch cover with a white mesh (of what ?)`, and an 8 inch without the mesh. can someone explain the differences and relative bebefits of each for me ? i'm sure many can and hopefully some will, as i am just beginning to learn freehand sharpening and want to re-profile my steep production folders down to about 15 degrees. thanks, roland

AFAIK the DMT stuff is a metal plate with diamond coating, and a plastic base that holds the metal plate, thats the colored plastic. If it doesn't ahve mesh then it is uninterupted and will likely remove material more aggresively, considering how cuarse they are get the interupted mesh style.
