Do any of you have an suvival pack, and if so do, is a Kukhuri it? Which model?

Just curious, If anyone out there has a survival/ emergency fast pack is a Khukuri included in it? Which one? The more I learn about the Khukuri, the more I appreciate its unique properties. A weapon, a tool, and much more. Definately better than the so called survival Rambo knives with that hollow handle! When I go out to the brush for now on, my HI Khukuri will accompany me!

Hi Broken Arrow,

I am richard from SFMO. We met at the SF Token Kai at Cecil's table. I think I showed you a 15" AK there didn't I?

I have a 18" AK in the trunk of my car. That's in case I get stuck out in the middle of nowhere at night. Then there is a REKAT neck knife under my steering column for carjackers.

BTW there's a selfdefense psychology thread on SFMO that warrants your attention.

Yes, I carry a survival pack in my van at all times. It cares a small s.s. cup to cook in or make coffee, fire starting , bug repellent, fishing gear, sharping stone, two space blankets, med. size folding knife, several different lengths and types of strings and cords,a bandana,an emergency ponch, coffee, coco, nutrition bar,two water bottles, and a 17.5" villager sirupati stuffed in the belt between me and the pack. It takes the place of a hatchet, machetti,as well as a formatable weapon if you needed one. It makes clearing a path, building a shelter and providing fire wood much eazier and quicker than most of the "survival knives" I've used in the past. Maybe it's just me but I feel very secure when I carry it in the back country or just in my vehicle. If I had to live off the land for any length of time, the khukuri would be a must on my list of wanted iteams with me.

Always. Which one depends upon where I intend to be. Usually it's a "Villager".

No survival pack but a khukuri will definitely be in it. (22" Ang Khola if the situation allows for it, otherwise a 17.5" WWII)

I know I ought to have an emergency pack with one or more useful knife like khukuri in it, but I just can't stand the idea my only HI Ang Khola be PACKED out of my sight.

Or am I wrong from the very start in thinking?

WrongFriend,

I do not think that your thinking is flawed. However, I do think that there is something wrong with the idea of only one khukuri. Khukuris are gregarious, and I'm pretty sure that your 15" AK feels pretty lonely. Maybe you could remedy that by acquiring another khukuri to accompany him. I know that funds might be low due to the season, but perhaps you could get a villager?

Christian

My survival pack includes a 15 inch Himalayan Imports Ang Khola khukuri, a folder and one Swiss Army multi-tool knife. With these three knives, I feel ready to meet any emergency.

Gregarious, baloney! They breed like coathangers in a closet. ( ROTFLMAO - good one Christian ! )

Speaking of which, Rusty, how many coat hangers in your closet?

er, that should read khukuris stashed under the bed.

I don't count them, Harry. My wife may one day ask how many and I want to be able to honestly tell her I don't know.

Far as a bug-out-bag I don't have one. But a service size pistol and a pocket pistol plus a service size khuk and a baby sirupati reside permanently in my suitcase.

I no longer take a self-loading battle rifle ( FN, Garand, M1A ) in the car trunk on trips anymore though. Usually. LOL

Ok, guys! Now I see what's going on with my khukuri... Khukuris are gregarious, so feels lonely for friends, and breeds sometimes. It's known that whole this process may harm my wallet.
I'm sure I heard my AK demanding a Gelbu Special type friend. I tried to persuade her away from wrong friends (not me!) who does bad things for my wallet and I'll find her good friend from a village. She insisted the same thing on and on and on.
