Just wondering do any of you guys know this oil ? It's great ! lubricates, protects from rust, it even cleans out wounds and is digestable !!!! It was invented by some german guy and used by the germans in WWII. Most Belgian knife shops use it and for my collection it's fantastic.

WillyD,

A long time ago Balistol was imported by HK. The then president, Florian Deltgen(spelling?) was responsible for bringing it to the USA. I have heard stories that he would put it on his salad as a dressing to prove that you could eat it. When he left HK, he started his own company and Balistol was one of his products. He moved on to Glock for a short while, not sure who imports it now.
The stuff works great, I have been using it for years. My wife doesn't like it when I spray it in the house because it does have an odor.

*lol* John, the ballistol odor has become like a cologne for me :)

Just curious if other people love it as much as I do, you know if you put 1/10 of ballistil in 9/10 of hot water you can let your gun barrel soak in it to remove eg black powder residue ? I tried it ands it works....

The brother of my grandma, was a hunter and he used Ballistol really for everything: guns, knives, sometimes for the tractors and even to clean WOUNDS!!!

I also use it for cleaning knives or my air rifle. It's a great oil!

Thunder Ridge Muzzleloading is having a sale on Ballistol. Example: 16.9 oz for only $6.75! :)

Yeah, but the airline ticket to get there is more than the $4.00 difference! LOL
Besides if I were in your fine country, I wouldn't be spending my Euros on Ballistol; I'd be rust proofing and lubricating myself with your beautiful beers. :D

I have never tried it but I just ordered a 16.9 OZ bottle from Thunder ridge. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the heades up on the special!

Ballistol is great stuff. I first saw it at the FLorida Art Knife Show in Orlando several years ago. The guy at the table sprayed some in a dish, stuck his finger in and licked it off!

Am I wrong here or is it just available in spray in the US ? I have both spray and a bottle of oil which I find easier to apply to a cloth to just give my knive a quick polish.
