Do craftsmen sell a lot of sheaths on bladeforums?

If so, should I make the sheath first and post for sale? Or just take orders on options? I am curious. Whats opinion on YellowHawk, Armadillo, BuyBrown and other makers? Are they mass producers? I plan on doing just a few at a time a week to maintain top notch quality fit and finish. Just curious before I pull the trigger in here.

It's going to all depend on your quality and if people like what you have for the price you are asking. Also, how well you engage in the forum. I don't think people who only post stuff for sale do very well. People that really engage and contribute to the forum past just selling stuff always seem to do better. In other words, if your sole purpose is to sell stuff here, I doubt you will have much luck. Of course the first step is to become a craftsman sponsor. I just re-newed for my 2nd year and have yet to sell something off of blade forums classified. I've only ever posted one item for sale. I have however had a few people PM me for sales and work and I have sold through that way.

Also, you should only have to sell one or two items to get your money back. That shouldn't be that hard.

Good luck,

Todd

I've owned sheaths from Buy Brown, Mashed Cat, and many others on here. All quality.

I usually buy from those who I know and like (Buy Brown often has the knife already, so no need to send your new knife off to him).

That is a significant investment from him.

He has a personal relationship with many of his customers.

If you make a decent sheath, you should be able to cover the fee quickly. I think a lot of makers find that other outlets are also beneficial.
