Do Douk-Douk Knives Have Mojo ??

I received a Douk-Douk knife in the mail today (pictured below). At least it wasn't unexpected. I don't know much about them.

Why today, do I have an urge to search for cowry shells and check my calendar for the next full moon?

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge concerning these knives and posting pictures of yours :)

Those aren't Duk-Duk pictured are they? ... aren't they Tubuan? ...circular eyes and crescent shaped mouth.

What edge angle do you suggest for the Douk-Douk? I'm thinking I'll try a 20 degree even though it's a relatively thick blade. It's pretty much a slicer isn't it?
 
I never have measured, just free hand sharpen. The Douk-Douk is very quick to take an edge. It is also easily stropped back into service. The steel is not the hardest, but it is very serviceable. Yes, they are great slicers.
 
My Douk-Douk is scalpel sharp with a bear trap strength snap. Woe to any that don't get their fingers out of the way when closing it.

I like that about the Douk-Douk. Pull is a good 8-9. I think it'd be a nail breaker if it had a nail nick. I'm sure it'll loosen with time and use, but right now I'm not positive I could even open it if my fingers were wet/slippery. No blade play open or closed and blade is centered. If it wasn't centered it might not be too hard to center it though, considering the construction. Just glad it meets my expectations and there are no disappointments as I bought it unseen.
 
The Douk Douk can handle any kind of hard cutting work... I've never felt it bother my hands either, during a big cutting task.
I think they are amazing knives. No matter what knife I may EDC, and work with from day to day.. I always have the Douk Douk in my book bag at all times.
 
They have plenty Mojo.

I only have a Squirrel, but think the Douk-Douk has plenty of Mojo :thumbup: Great pics guys :thumbup:
 
DOUK DOUK!

I just like to say "DOUK DOUK!"

I used mine in the garden this weekend. It is a wicked sharp, rugged, user. Plus it comes with the Douk-Douk spirit guy - so you got that go'n for you.

This knife has mojo to burn!

Sure they have mojo.
Here's one of mine I turned into a squirrilish one.
Nice honest sturdy pocket knife.

Didn't steal that blade.
It started out like this.
I just took an old file and shaped the blade that way.



Standard small Douk Douk.
 
Been carrying my Squirrel today :)



Might have to get a Douk-Douk ;)
