Do First Production Runs Have More Value

I know a dealer who has a BM 710 first production run of 49 out of 1000. If I were to buy this knife would it gain in value due to it's numbered designation. If so would it be a bad idea to use this knife.

I'm not a collector, but I doubt a numbered first production run of manufactured knife will gain much in value, UNLESS the knife is high end to begin with, or the collectibility is hyped.

If you want a user, don't pay a premiun for it and use it. If you want a collection piece, you could consider it, but you'd probably be better served collecting something else.

Try the search func.....All right I forgot your my friend now so I'll answer. It's a crap shoot whether they go up in value it completley depends on how popular the model turns out,how long they produce it,what variations they use in the model etc etc. I hung onto things I was convinced would go up and didn't and I also got rid of things I thought were not going anywhere only to find out they did. One thing I notice though is for the most part with a few exceptions is that BM while retaining there value don't ever seem to exceed it. Now if you had a cheering gallery like MT has and produced a zillion different offerings on the same item and had a select few screaming about the values then you might see BM and other co's becoming hot collectables the same way. Most factory knives produced at this time are just that and not something to stash away for a rainy day In My ever so Humble Opinion.
