Do frogs shrink when wet?

Kind of an oddball problem...

The frog on my AK Bowie is too big. The sheath slides right through and down. Is there anything that shrinks leather well?

Sas the best thing to do is to untie the lacing trim right past the lacing holes and then punch new ones and relace.

If it's not a laced frog then the next best thing is to superglue a leather piece underneath on the back side, I've had to do that a couple of times.;)

leather is skin - doesn't shrink when wet. that said, you might be able to "force" it to shrink by soaking it in hot water and hitting it with a heat gun (heat = shrink).

I thought this was a smartguy post about frogs . The hopping kind!
Slippery when wet ,maybe !
Well at least you got the right answer !

Yvsa is spot on as usual. Every AKB that I have had came with a frog that was too loose. Untying the leather lacing and punching new holes is the best way. Of course, when i got my last AKB I didn't have any tools or workshop space to play in. Nope, i wrapped the scabbard with 4 or 5 layers of duct tape where the frog should sit and slipped the frog over that. Then, I colored where the duct tape showed with a black sharpie marker. Not pretty, but it works.

Have you tried licking the frog? It might not shrink, but you might have hallucinations ;)

If frogs shrink when wet and are amphibious, do they eventually become microscopic? ;)

The shrink idea comes from wet leather being able to stretch. On old cowboy movies the hero, tied up with rawhide, would spit and work the ties loose. When it drys it 'shrinks' again. I've tried to shrink too loose sheaths by soaking them in water but it did not work.

You guys crack me up,
Imagine if poor ol' SASSAS had titled his thread something like, "Help, my frog is too loose". The mind reels considering some of the possible responses. :D

Sarge...you've a sick mind...

I like that in my friends.

I'm not worried about frogs shrinking, I'm worried about that old question, "is a frog's ass watertight?" I've heard distressing rumours that they aren't. That does not bode well for the purity of lake water.

Well, hell. Lakes are full of ant piss and mosquito saliva, rat juice and whatever was living on the slope busted loose, Cow pies and Dead Ravens, Coyote hair, fish guts, salamander slicks, poly wog wash, duck patties, dirt, mud, diapers and oil, batteries, vegitation fermentation, old cars and dead Rock Stars.

Water is the stuff of life.

As long as he didn't say "ex-wives and other people who have irritated me," I think we're OK... :D

(But Officer, Munk seemed so _normal!_ Who would have thought he was capable of such a thing! ;) )

Forget all that stuff. Plug "swimmer's itch" into your favorite search engine if you don't already know what it is. It's gotten the worst of our public lakes around here and I suppose that it's just a matter of time until it gets them all.

Frog asses may be bad, but duck asses are capable of far more damage.
