I have handled both and the pelican seems a little more tougher. I like the otterbox features though. I'm not really sure what to pick. I could get both for the money, but money is tight and I'd rather not. They are both said to be water proof to 100ft. Have you experienced leaks? Does anyone have anything bad to say about either?

I have both, both seem to do very well although I have never had a need for one down to 100'. Never had a leak on the surface either. What size are you looking at?

The smaller types. The otterbox 1000 and 2000 and the pelican 1010 and 1020.

I like the small Otter boxes, and the larger Pelican cases. I haven't taken one down very deep. Hope this helps.

Not all Pelicans are guaranteed waterproof. From their 1010 case page...

* GREAT FOR RUGGED SPORTS - NOT FOR SWIMMING OR SUBMERGING
* Available in clear with color liner or solid
* Easy open latch
* Rubber liner for extra protection doubles as o-ring seal
* Stainless steel hardware
* Carabiner
* Lifetime Guarantee of Excellence
* Water resistant, crushproof, and dust proof

Otterboxes, on the other hand, are billed as waterproof.

Similar to an otter's fur, our original line of cases is waterproof. So to incorporate that element with the fun and playful disposition of the animal our CEO and his wife came up with the name OtterBox while brainstorming company names during a drive to Denver, Colo.

If its the Micro sized cases that you're interested in, evaluate the type of usage and environment that the case will see and make your choice.

I have Peli Case, Otter Box and Outdoor Products Waterproof Cases, and I'd use the Peli Case every time as I won't be swimming with, or submerging the cases when Packrafting.

If I find myself 100' below the surface, the contents of my waterproof case will not be my foremost thought! :eek:

Pelican case all the way. Use them for work, Rifles, Toolbox for my expedition jeep. they have a lifetime warranty and hold up fantastically. Plus you can find them used all the time for half of retail on craigslist.
