Do I need a 530?

My current BM rotation consists of a 710 in M390 for large EDC, a 556 Mini Grip for small EDC, a 482 Megumi for suit & tie carry and a Pika II that I use for a cheap knife when I'm kayaking, fishing, etc.

I've been thinking about a small-midsize knife that I can use primarily for office carry. It would be replacing a SOG Flash I as I'd like something with a bit more blade and better steel. I want to keep it as thin and light as possible so I keep coming back to the 530.

I've got an extra stainless deep carry clip from a Contego that should make the 530 all but disappear in the pocket of my khakis.

Tell me why I should or shouldn't get a 530.

Get one. The 530 is a classic Pardue design perfect for an office-type environment. At 1.8 ounces you hardly know it's in your pocket, and with that 810 clip no one else will know it's there.

I call it a gentleman's tactical.... I LOVE my 530!...Very unique, super quality and just disappears until it's needed.

Here's a good example of how cool a 530 can be:

Limited edition from early this year.

I say go ahead and buy one:D

I had one and sold it. It just never felt "right" for me. It is a very nice knife, just wasn't my cup of tea.

For any knife, the 530 is insanely light. For it's blade length... it's unreal. I love mine. I carry mine whenever running/biking, clipped to nylon running short waistband - you'll forget it's there.

The only downside? Blade looks kind of ... tactical. (I've seen it mistaken for double-sided, too.) Consider an emissary perhaps, too - but I think you'll find many uses for the 530!

When I was working over the summer, I usually needed a more substantial knife for EDC. Since I've gone back to school, however, I've had a hard time kicking my 530 out of my pocket. Very thin and light, and with a 810 Contego clip it disappears. The design is gorgeous, the blade cuts very nicely. You'd be missing out if you didn't at least handle one.
