Do I 'need' a La Griffe?

I just bought this Matt Bailey Knife

I really like it :)
It isn't as thin as a La Griffe but has a similar blade shape.

I wouldn't wear a neck knife....maybe pocket sheath or belt.
Is there a compelling reason for a La Griffe?

The LaGriffe is a very good neck knife -- light, thin, with a lot of cutting power in a very small package. If you wouldn't wear it as a necker there is no compelling reason to buy it, no.

Thats a nice looking blade

The blade shape is infact not like the La Griffe but it will still cut of course :p

Iv been carying a La Griffe for years and never actually used it as a neck knife. Its far better carried infront of the hip IMO.

I always carry a knife on each side, because if I can't get to one I can still get to the other. Consider carrying your main knife on the strong side, and a LaGriffe on the oposite side.

If you don't like neck carry, there are some videos out there demonstrating how you can attach a cord to the bottom of the LaGriffe sheath and the other end of the cord to your belt loop. Hang the knife from the cord down into your pocket, and you can do a slick one hand draw....

Another carry option but it is unconcealed. http://www.mercop.com/docs/bag3.htm

A simpler variation of this is to just take the Emerson sheath, and attach it to your belt with some zipties. I can use black zipties on a black belt, and tuck the sheath partially under a belt loop, and it is almost invisable. Calif. has a no concealed carry law for fixed blade knives (yet I can carry a 4" folder concealed...go figure), so I can use this carry but can't cover it with my shirt (unfortunately!).

Usually though, I just carry a second Karambit! If a tiny little LaGriffe Karambit it good, then a 3" one is even better!!!

Thanks for all the info. For me, the method of carry is often far more important than the actual knife. I've several really nice knives that I can't carry practically and it makes them useless other than as boxcutters.

That Sidewinder sheath link was a good one!

I carry mine in between the belt and pants on the left side. I just made a little belt loop out of 550 cord.

Nobody ever "needs" a LaGriffe. Your subconscious makes you "Want" it.

It just makes sense to have something on the "off-side", to protect against a strong side gun/knife grab....and that is where this little kinife really shines!
