Recommendation? Do I need anything more?

So I carry two knives on my person on a daily basis. I carry a little leatherman squirt PS4 in my weak side pocket (along with some other items). Then on my strong side I carry a Spyderco Endura 4 with a zip tie mod for quick deployment. I wanted to know, in the rare event that I would need a self defense blade, would my endura 4 cut the bill? Personally I think it would but on the flip side something like a Ka-Bar TDI couldn't hurt. Am I just overthinking this whole idea? Is it worth carrying the extra weight?

Knives make lousy self defense tools.

However, if you do need to use the knife, you are more likely to be a limiting factor than the Endura.

Get training if you are serious about it.

Avoid fast food.

(The last bit had nothing to do with your thread. Just generally good advice.)

In the rare event you need a knife for self defense it makes more sense to take classes on how to utilize the knife you're comfortable with rather than carrying an extra knife for the explicit purpose of self defense, because muscle memory dictates that you're go for the knife you'll usually go for rather than fishing out the 3rd knife.

If you are serious , ask the moderators to move this to Practical Tactical subform ( use the "! Report " to click on )

The Endura 4 is a very capable knife. As previously stated it's better to stick with what you're comfortable with. Luckily you've chosen a great all around knife that will serve many roles. Endura + Leatherman is a great combo. It's cheaper and easier to stick to those ;)

Better sneakers and be aware of your surroundings. Last resort you do the best you can with what you have, but do everything you can not to land in that situation. A larger knife will likely just make you bolder.
That's my take

Rhythm, music, dasies in green pastures, who could ask for anything more?

A fixed blade is way better in self defense than a folding knife. There is no contest. A wave can make a folding knife barely acceptable for self defense but in my opinion the regular way of waving a knife has the knife in an awkward pinch grip when you first wave the knife.

I think reverse waving is better but still only marginally. A fixed blade is 100% the way to go for self defense. Get the kabar tdi.

I always thought it'd be cool if someone carried bear mace for general self defense... But seriously situational awareness and running.

I carry a knife on each side. On the rare occasions on which I can legally carry a firearm (I'm not in the US) I drop one of the knives.

If you don't want a second knife, then perhaps something like an ASP baton.

Almost anything's better than fighting with your empty hands. I know what I'm talking about, I've been competing in muay thai and grappling for years, training seven days a week, coach my own team, and still consider unarmed combat as an almost insane SD option. We're tool using animals.

Whatever you chose, get a ton of realistic training. Make sure you understand your limitations and how things work (or don't!) under stress.

In fact, before you get a second knife I'd advice you to buy a training version of your Endura 4. So you can try out things like drawing and opening it while a couple of guys punch and grab you.

Stick and knife make a good combination. Even the shortest callapsible baton will give much longer reach than a regular knife, it allows you to block and might be better perceived by LEOs than a knife.

I'm not a fan of pepper spray. We've got our fair share of seasonal riots down here (the Third World is nice like that) and I've seen it fail too many times, even when deployed from the huge cans police use. It relies on the subjects pain threshold and some people can take a lot of pain and keep coming. It's better if combined with a baton or knife, but doing so might be illegal in some areas.

Whatever you pick, get a ton of training. Nothing dispels myths as fast as training. Avoid as many confrontations as you can, run away, talk your way out.

Get the tdi. It's a stout little beast. It's angled grip make it almost imposible for the other guy to use it against you.

Take some kali classes. I hear it's fun and it will teach you self defense. I just use my knives as tools. Your more liable to get hurt or even stabbed with your own knife otherwise.

So yea the answer to your question is, it's not worth it unless you learn exactly what to do in that type of situation.

Kali for sure.

If you're he'll bent on using a knife for self defense, carry a large fixed blade. If you use knife, you're going to jail. You may as well make it worth your while.
