Hey guys. I have a question. I out on the morro bay, california and the lady and I are planning on doing some kayaking in the bay. I have a bk14 with a azwelke set up at the moment for day hikes and such. Should I pick up a 24 for kayaking? I take good care of my knives and oil regularly, so would I have much to worry about being the 14 instead? Thanks in advance.

I live in newport beach and do take my 14 on occasional kayaking trips and I've even used it to dice up bait. All I do is wipe it down after use and I store it in a zip lock or dry bag and haven't had any issues. I've been considering buying a 24, less fuss

If you still have the coating on the blade, IMHO no. I wish I hadn't removed it on mine :(

No you don't need it unless you plan on getting dunked in the water often. :D I have an Izula 2 that I take near the water and I never have any rust issues unless the knife gets submerged. But even then it's not bad. A good patina and a little oil go a long way.

You shouldn't "need" it, but if you don't "want" it, I'd get that checked out asap.
