Do I want a wool "crusher" hat?

I have a few Tilley's that I wear almost constantly in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. I wear a Stormy Kromer in the winter. I love the durability of the hats I have. I can wash all my Tilley's (Cotton T5, Hemp T4, and a Paddler's Hat) and the Stormy Kromers are still going strong after 15 years+.

I'm itching for a new hat good for Spring weather up to maybe 75°. I have my eye on the Stetson Explorer hat because it's not quite a cowboy hat (I'm looking for more of an outback style). What do you think? Do they do anything a Tilley hat doesn't? Look better perhaps?

Yes, you want/need one. The crusher is a different look than the Tilley. You will be stylin' and profilin' either way. Let us know what you decide to do. Thanks

Filson and Orvis both have some nice selections for springtime. Wool may be a little warm for spring, but the crusher/packer style is classic. Happy hunting.

I don’t have any better pics right now but I have Stetson (made in europe edition) lightweight fur felt hat for midseasons and I like it very much. Very comfy and protective hat even in slightly chilly days.

Baileys has some nice wool hats. I have two. I wear from about late Sept to the end of April. Before that I wore a Dorfman Pacific. Was a good hat as well, just a smidge small.

All my Filson hats are gone. Did have a grey wool one but it was also a smidge small so I sold it.

If you like the style go for it. I wear a hat a lot even around town.

Nice, simple, utility knife you got there... I was gifted one a similar one (not that fancy, translucent scales) by someone whose wife lives nearby Solsona. Cuts like a laser!
