I'm looking for a new carry blade for a trip to WA next month. I'm really interested in the mini A-100.
For those who have them, how frequently do you carry it?
I'm looking at the mini A-100 or a BM mini bone Collector.

I like the blade design of the A-100 better, but have become a true believer in the D2 of the BM. I wish I could have the best of both worlds.

What should I do?:(

(i can only afford one right now)

they are both very nice folders. the benchmade fit and finish is nicer and the d2 holds an edge longer. The emerson feels better in my hand and i like the wave opening, the cmp154 holds a good edge its stainless and sharpens easier.

both will do great i dont end up carrying either anymore the chris reeve umnuzman kicked them out.

take it easy

I've always wanted an Emerson Mini A 100.

I don't like the blade shape of the Bone Collector. I'd rather get a Mini Grip instead.

My personal choice would be Mini A100. Blade steel wouldn't make that big of a difference to be a deciding factor for me , I love the overall shape of the Emerson , especially the blade.

I really like my mini A-100; it's my go-to travel knife (when I don't want to check my Sebenza). Good clip, unobtrusive, easy to wrist-flick open, useful blade shape, good steel.

Even though the fit and finish is imperfect (Y'know, "hard use"), it just feels good.

About the only downside is the thickness of the blade, which reduces its EDC utility a tiny bit.

The Benchmade will have better F&F, but I'd take the Emerson.

Can anyone comment on the "V grind"? How easy is it to sharpen compared to a standard grind? I've looked at the FAQ on Emerson's website, but have never had a close look at his grind in person. I'm a little wary about this grind as I have just recently gotten good at freehand sharpening a conventional v grind.

It really is no different than a standard V grind.

I love the mini a100. It's one of my favorite knives. It does have more of a chisel grind then a v grind.

The Mini can be nice but I've seen some that were anything but with bowed liners and so forth. The ones I had that were nice were quite nice. One thing I don't like about this model is that the thumb disc to me is just to dang small. Quite honestly the knife frustrated my thumb as my thumb missed it more than caught it to open the blade. Ernie really needs to add a thumb ramp or put a wider thumb disc on it.
