In the topic "Small stoves for wilderness use", Hoodoo mentioned a homemade alcohol stove that he's been using. I, too, have made and used mine with great success. Attached is a link I used to make mine. It's cheap, easy to make , and very light (~1 oz.).

Squid,
Had a little trouble finding the stove at your site but I found it. Here is the url for those who don't want to search so hard.

Hoodoo

The low, hoarse purr of the whirling stone—the light-press’d blade,
Diffusing, dropping, sideways-darting, in tiny showers of gold,
Sparkles from the wheel.

I think I found the original link to the stove I described.

Unfortunately the link to the online instructions is no longer valid. There is an email at the site above. Maybe instructions can be found by contacting the author through email.

I wouldn't go any bigger. You don't want a flame that gets any bigger than the bottom of the pot. My stove will send a blue flame all the way out to the edge of the pot and then some. Too big of a stove and you are probably just wasting fuel.

MDP:

Hoodoo is right on. I actually tried making a larger one using pasta sauce cans, and when I fired it up, it engulfed my pot in blue flame! I, too, wouldn't recommend going any bigger. YMMV...
