I’m not an Opinel fan. Many here are, and more power to you. Some knife nuts can’t get a new Opinel without reaching for rasp and sandpaper. They like to reshape the handle and make in their own.

Turns out Opinel has noticed. They’ve been making knives with oversized grips for a while. In Europe these Opinels give more scope to the customize-it-yourself crowd.

This specialty Opinel has only recently become available in America. At least, I’ve never heard of them before today.

Several of our members have used the "ebauche" Opinels to make their own customized versions, in years past. If you do a little searching, you'll no doubt find a treasure trove of modified/customized Opinel knives here on the forums.
