Hi I am the proud owner of a small Sebenza. I have had it for years now and I still love it. I got without a thumb stud, but now I would to have one mounted. Is it possible to do it your self and is it possible to find an elegant one. Unfortunately it is not an option to send it to C. Reeve.

Regards Carl

Some things that pose a problem are, the hardened steel blade is about as hard as cheap drill bits so you will need a very expensive bit, they sell them at a knife kit website but I don't remember the URL, they basically sell kits to add thumb studs and such. Really the best bet would be to make it a possibility to send it to CRK.

I believe that gnarmin has done it several times. Hopefully he will respond for you.

Carl, I see that you are from Denmark. Ask Jens Anso or Mikkel Willumsen or Jens Jorgen Schiermer (all three are Danish knifemakers). One of them will surely attach a thumbstud for you. They have the tools.
TAD gear sells tritium thumb studs that glow in the dark :) Very nice:)

Regards,
Ray

It already has a hole and its a bigger one than most. What you need to do is one of two things. I know you can use a standard pivot barrel because I've done it. Order you a pivot barrel that uses a 6-32 size screw. You can get the one from Jantz order number F-6 and it comes with two screws or you can get one with just a screw on one side and cut off the non screw side using a sander or cut off disc and dremmel. The one side one is order # HP6-25 . Jantz can be called at 1-800-351-8900

Also, they sell a new one similar to the one Chris uses in looks and it may fit right in there like it belongs. Get one of the pivot barrels from Jantz supply order #F-12 if you want to try that one. Any of these can be made to work I'm sure. This last one is just for $2.95 The HP-625 is the same price and the other F 6 model is $2.50 but don't forget shipping.

As I said I used the F-6 before and it worked fine. You can see the knife I stuck it on here. This is a Reeve BG42 blade that was sent to me by a customer who snagged just the blade on Ebay. He asked me to make it into a folder which I did seen here. What I did on this one is screw the one side of the barrel and secure it to the blade. Then I cut off the excess using a cut off wheel which you can get at Sears or Wal-Mart or craft stores but you can sand it down to size on a bench wheel as easy if need be. Take it down until the screw fills in at the opening and/or you can shorten the screw and insert a little colored glass or stone of some kind in it for decoration that way also.
