Several months ago I bought an Entrek Scout. I recontoured the bevel to about 25 degrees and it took an exceptional edge. I kept it in the night stand and used it for this and that, but it never seemed to want to jump into my hand, anxious to cut something. I finally decided the sandblast finish was turning me off. It felt a bit course and scratched very easily. Even the kydex sheath left marks. I have access to a bead blaster at work, and thought I might take it in for a refinshing job some day. I held back because the BB might wipe out the maker's mark. Last week I went net shopping at SMKW for odds and ends. The shopping cart rapidly filled with sheaths, pouches, "one arm bandit" blade attachments, etc. I added a "rust eraser" just out of curiosity. The order arrived yesterday, quick and all correct (Thank You SMKW!). This morning I decided to try the eraser out on the scratches on the Entrek blade. As I rubbed the area of the scratch what should appear but a beautiful smooth satin finish! It took about 30 minutes to work over the whole knife. Gloriosky what a difference! This frog turned into a real prince of a knife. The eraser polished more on edges so Mr. Ennis' perfect grind lines stand out beautifully. The maker's mark is better than ever! It even feels better sliding in and out of the sheath! It not only jumps into my hand now, but calls out to me from the next room! I'm typing with one hand 'cause I just can't put it down.

Goody, another new way to enjoy this fun hobby (he says as he eyes the CRKT Kasper folder and Companion sitting next to him).

Try it on a parkarized finish yet?
There is a certain Livesay that might get the shiney treatment...
Ebbtide out.

Don't have anything parkerized except a WWII Marine knife. Gotta leave it "as is". I wear it as part of my uniform. I belong to a living history group that flies around to airshows in authentic WW2 uniforms.

Just finished the Companion. I had to do some major material removal on the bevel. The straight section was ok, but one side had all the bevel as it curved up to the tip. When siting down the serious edge of the blade I could see the edge swerve off to the side! Got it straightened out ok, though, then broke out the eraser. As with the Entrek, it looks great. I think this one had "bead" rather than "sand" blast, so it is not quite as big a change. Nonetheless, it took on a nice, almost "champagne" satin finish.
