Do not store your guns into public storage - lesson learnt

I stored my stuff into public storage (climate controlled) in Lynnwood, WA for years. Someone broke into it several months ago.

I lost 5 guns (3 of them ARs) including A LOT of ammo and other stuff. Luckily, they're covered by my home insurance + storage insurance.

What stunned me ... to get into the gate and the elevator, access code's required. ... and still someone could break in and the public storage did not have a clue who used the code. The only camera they had was lobby and it did not capture anyone during the suspected break-in time frame .... UNBELIEVABLE!

Second, always documents your stuff either the receipts or photos, it would help to file claim to insurance.
Third, there's limit claim amounts for collectible items, so if you have a lot of collectible items, consider to add other extra insurances.

Good reminder! Sorry you had the loss, but glad you had coverage for it.

Wonder if it was an inside job?

Oh, it's very believable as it was clearly an inside job.

It does sound like an inside job and next to impossible to prove it unless the guns are discovered or they try to pawn a gun and the police get wind of it. This happened to me with photographic equipment. Police didn't want to be bothered for the most part. They just said contact your insurance company....

Exactly, the police's already closed the investigation with no suspects.
