Do Spyderco knives have any paperwork with them?

My dad just picked up a Native at Wal Mart and we're curious if there is supposed to be any sort of info with the knife?

There's a piece of thin black foam in the black box (the knife moves freely inside the box) and that's it.

What your father received is correct. The box has the warranty info on it. Some of our models do have a document (Civillian) or a small certificate (Sprint/Limited runs, Forum knives, etc.)

Sprint runs get a card? I have four zdp Calypsos and none of them have a card, not to mention my Blue Alumite Walker,nor both my R2s, nor my shiney new CF PE Harpy are blessed with a magic card. :(
 
The only thing I've ever received inside a Spyderco box is something about the sheath on the fixed blades.

Personally I don't need any papers whatsoever. However, if a limited edition piece had some little card indicating that fact, I don't want to miss out on the paper if I bought the knife. If said knife never had a piece of paper saying something than no worries here.
 
As far as I'm concerned, the only paperwork necessary with a knife is already printed on Spyderco's boxes. Warranty information, contacts, etc.
 
I love the little cards that come with the Kopa. Although, out of the 6 I own, I have only recieved two cards.. :confused:
 
Now, I am also wondering if I should have gotten something with my Caly ZDP-189 also?

Ront - I didn't get a card with any of my three Calypso Jr ZDP's. So either we both missed out or they didn't come with cards.


If Spyderco wanted to go with paperwork, a cool idea would be including a little "species" card

Kind of go with the whole animal theme Spyderco has.

Something like this.

Species - Dodo
Natural Habitat - Spyderco Preserve - Golden, CO USA
Characteristics - 2 1/16" S30V blade with G-10 markings
Care and Feeding - Oil and sharpen regularly to ensure happiness

You get the idea. The above is a little rough, but I'm sure something nice could be put together with a little effort.

It might not work with all models, but maybe?

A spydie doesn't need any paperwork to come with it - everything worth mentioned is well written on itself. :)
