do striders (smf/sng) need lubricant or can you run them dry?
if you do need it what type of lube is best?

I do WD when I just want a quick lube. If I want something that'll last a while. I generally go with gun oil or just olive oil

i would guess since you have a strider you would have no probs spending a couple of bucks on some decent lube :)
i would personally reccomend a "dry glide teflon" product of some description.
(down here in NZ it would be called CRC dry-glide). its a spray that drys into a thin teflon film, it dosent attract dust as its a dry, lubricated protected film :)
its used in industrial applications, alot of hygenic food service applications etc

I believe the official Strider word is that they do not need lube. Just keep them clear of gritt.

Strider recommends not to take apart and to spray down with wd40 once in a while.m this info is in the USN....

That being said-----carefully taking apart for a thorough cleaning and frog lube, nano oil, or tuff glide will work great.
