I was just wondering if the bm42's latch will always lock and you dont hvae to go through the pain of pounding your tang pin? If anyone knows please reply. I just got my bm42a almost 10 days ago. It seems like that the latch is getting easier and easier to lock and unlock. I am just afraid that eventually the latch won't lock. Thz ahead to anyone who replys.:D

Brian- My bm still swings great. Better out of the box actually.(thz to some miltech)

I have kind of noticed a difference in latching ease with my two BM42's. My 42S sees little flipping, and my 42 has rotated more than most of the fans in the house. The used one still locks absolutely solidly though, and I've been flipping it for 7 months, daily. I doubt it'll ever be unlatchable

I think your hands are just getting stronger Chinese Man. It was the same with me, at 1st I could only unlatch it with my index finger. Now I can do it with all of them.

Mine has become more loose, I've had it for over a year, it still locks up...a little, but if I want a bali that locks I'll any of my other Bali-Songs, those haven't been locked up very much so they are still pretty tight.

I've been constantly flipping my 42 for about seven months, and it's just starting to lock up a bit loose.

NEVER pound the tang pin. BM-42's have this nice thing called a warranty. If your knife gets used so much that it eventually won't lock, just send it in to Benchmade and they'll gladly fix it. All you have to pay for is shipping.

mine sees little rest from the constant flipping, even when i'm at work, and i have no problems with it. still latches just as tight as ever. yay for benchmade!
peace.
aleX.

I disagree. Some of the Ti on the safe handle, where the lip contacts the side, is rubbed off. This makes it much looser compared to my other one which see little fliping. I'd show you a pic if I knew how to do it.:(
