Okay, EXTREMELY minor spoilers, if you haven't seen it, don't worry......
this won't give anything away.
When King Leonidas http://library.flawlesslogic.com/leonidas.htm puts his spear down (towards the very end of the movie), did anyone else just happen to notice that it looked like it had 4 or 5 Busse serrations on both sides?
Pretty cool, huh?
I haven't been able to find a picture of the spear yet, but if anyone can, please do so. Thanks.

That movie kicked butt!! I think I need to see it everyday going forward just to motivate myself to deal with some of the 'tards I work with...

Amazing stuff, highly recommended to all...

I thought the spearhead was battleworn. It did seem to be clean edged before the fighting began. I could be wrong, now I have to go see it again...........bummer:rolleyes: ;)

It was a movie I enjoyed immensely more than expected, and I REALLY wanted to see it. I want to see Jerrys version of the Spartan sword now!

Maybe it was supposed to look battleworn, but I think they spaced the dents too evenly. I swear, it looked like flying serrations.
(get it.... spear... flying..... oh, forget it..... )

Darn...I will have to go see it AGAIN! And if I miss it.....I guess I will try a third time!

I sure missed it...darn, i have to watch again too. I only noticed those "ninja liked" being are holding something like MMHW sword.

Jerry, have you thought about an "INFI Shield" after finish watching that movie?

BTW, when he sets it down, you get a really, really good look at it.
Hard to miss, really.

That movie was AWESOME!!! Though I think you've got wishful (HOG) thinking Ed :D. I ALWAYS look at knives and such in movies. I remember the part you're talking about, I'm pretty sure the spear head was just chipped from battle. Didn't look TOO uniform. Cool observation though. I thought I was just TOO obsessed with everything edged when I found myself noticing things like that ;). Guess I'm not alone!

BTW: Wasn't the runner who was sent back with the message supposed to die shortly after screaming VICTORY! Maybe my greek history/mythology is a little rusty. The original battle was called the Battle at Thermopoly, right?

The Battle of Marathon was with Xerxe's dad ,Darius I, and that was why he was invading. To avenge the loss to the Greeks at Marathon and that was the battle the runner came back and said "Nike" and died. I might be wrong but don't think so.

EDIT - Here you go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Marathon

Battle of Themopylae http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Thermopylae

I never was proficient in that era of history..........my original (around 4th grade) interest has been rekindled. I need to do some reading the next chance I get to relax with a book :D. Interesting stuff!

Oh, BTW: Wikipedia might not be the best source for information.....it's user maintained. I've found it to be counterproductive in some research papers over the past few years. It's actually banned as a source (to site) on any college campuses I've ever had the priveledge to attend.

tedwca is correct. There was a show about both battles on the history channel this last week.

Yeah, I saw that when I checked out the page about 10 seconds after typing that. I just meant wikipedia in general (for the most part) when I said that. It's great in it's own right......it's just that the facts are messed up in some cases.

They may be banned from any self respecting college.....but down here in Louisiana, it is actually taught as a great source site! Have you ever seen "Waterboy"? Well that is the best example of the college I go to!:D

Academics tend to dismiss Wikipedia because it does not pay what they deem proper respect to academic credentials. But the fact of the matter is that a study published in Nature found that it was about as accurate as Britannica. You can read the article in Nature here, or just read about it here.
