Do the Khukris from the website come with the small knives pictured as well?

Just curious, what would you experts recommend for a first time khukri for the field and bugout bag. I'm 6'3 if that makes any difference. Primarily for chopping and clearing.

Thanks
Gary

Yes the small knives are included. It is actually one knife and one blunt sharpening steel, called the karda & chakma. There are spots in the sheath for each. I'd recommend an 18" ang khola for you as a good all-around chopper. Keep in mind 18" is the overall length and not the blade length.

Or perfect for testing the waters get a KLVUK. I think there might be one left from yesterdays deal of the day.
It is blade only without the extra two tools and no sheath but Auntie has sheaths for 20 bucks that will fit it.

It's a user blade and might give you a feel, kind of a test drive for this type of blade. It'll be much lighter than the AK which I think you should get too, it's a great choice but it's ready to go now and an excellent option.

the more I have read it seems like the M43 is the best all round bug out type knife, good for bushcraft and general tool survival , my favorite knives to buy are like the Hanuman with all those great tools, ( mostly for leather repair i think) but you can use them to tie fishing lines and what not, I just love every model-- but imo m43 or hanuman just for tools

The WWII IMO is also a Great Khukri for this uses. For some reason, the WWII and M43 [Both designs used During WWII as combat and Utility blades are very popular general use blades.

For a first time khukri, for field and bug out bag I would suggest a BAS for convenience of having a blade that is lighter in weight than an ang khola yet has a useful shape for utility and a weapon. But if he wants the blade for EOTW then go hard and get ASTK. You will never regret it.

I suggest a BAS as well, due to it's combination of chopping and weapon use, and as another has said, it is lighter than an AK, and thus easier to carry, if you must bugout. Just IMO.

Now call me weirdo but if Im trying to get through the bush from point A to B I like to use the path of least resistance which is not chopping through a three inch sapling. I go around it and whack weeds briar or vines if I can. I want a lighter faster blade. For fire building i prefer searching for deadfall and if it needs to be broken down I stomp on it wedge it between a few trees or slam it against a tree and crack it into pieces. Dont need anything for fire building except my feet.. I can only think of a few situations where I really chop and that's if you need green structural stuff to build shelter or maybe smaller springy stuff for spring traps for example. Maybe if you live in bamboo forest or no deadfall or something it may be different but not in my neck of the woods. So far from the sample of HI knives I have there is one piece that I would grab hands down without question and that is my 21 inch Gelbu Special. I dont have the KLVUK but I think I would prefer it to the heavier Khuks. I suppose it really depends on the environment where you play and how far from home you may be. . I really like the AK but it would not be very effective in my opinion as far as cutting brush and springy vines and such. Now close to home my 25" siru cant be beat (excluding chopping). My chopping actually gets done at home . Now im waitin for 22" ganga ram DOTD to do that chopping
