Do the manufactures do anything to stop the fakes from coming to market?

Was at a Gun Show yesterday, and my favorite vendor who sell poor copies or faux knives has a table there. The guy is in his 80's and apprently is proud he was a U.S. Marine, as he was wearing his U.S.M.C Baseball Hat per his norm.

Per his norm he has some phone Micro-Techs OTF's, and some knive stamped with the Spyderco Logo (spide), model after nothing Spyerco has ever made.

Can not understand how this guy is allowed to stay in business, and continues to have inventory of fakes. Seem the people who'd product is being counterfitted, would work with local Cops & Customs to stop this non sense.

Unsuspecting, uneducated consumers are buying these fakes, and I hopr they never need warranty service.

Grandpa Marine IMHO need to go to the brig.

Many manufacturers deal with counterfeit items much the same way, they hire lawyers both where the original company is headquartered as well as the country where the counterfeit items are manufactured. Several hundreds and thousands of dollars later the battles continue. Being that these things are a legal aspect of business and not about knives, let's go to knife laws.

In this case I would bring it to the attention of the person or group that runs the show, and inform them you will report the show to the link above if they continue to allow him to sell fakes. I run shopping malls and we get letters informing us of a store selling fakes and we immediately sent them a notice to terminate that action for we will take action to evict them.

What would you like them to do?

What they do is their choice, but I kind of like the was Disney, the NFL, and Oakley goes after those who counterfit their products, or product with fake trademarks, or licensing tags.

I kind of relate to what it means to copyright, trademark or license a product. As I at one time created items for sale that were copyrighted.

Sad part in the knife equasion is as I said the looser who buy the fake is buying in many case what he think is the real deal backed by a reputable manufacters warranty. Bad new is the day he finds out he has bought a fake.
