Do the new RIL knives have pivot bushing like the Leafstorm?

I read that the leafstorm has the same pivot bushing like a Sebenza so that you could tighten the pivot all the way and the blade still opens smooth. Do the chokwe, Sage II, etc also have the pivot bushing?

The Leafstorm does have a pivot bushing however, if you tighten it too much it will affect how smooth the blade opens. This is what I have experienced.

The LeafStorm definately has a pivot bushing system just like a Sebenza which has two metal slabs and can be tightened harder than the LeafStorm with one side being G10.

Wow that’s news to me, I guess that would account for some of the knife’s price.

Do what? This is news to me. Pics or it didn't happen. :foot:

Seriously, this is the first I've heard of the pivot bushing. I've been wondering what all the fuss over these Leafstorms was, as I just didn't see anything all that special. There was no "there" there. Now, however, a pivot bushing?

(Vincent Price voice and organ music) Verrrrry Interesting.....

I’m sure I’ve seen pics of a disassembled RIL Sage and it seemed to have a standard pivot.

I had a leafstorm apart (now wish I had taken pictures).

What it has is a pivot with both sides turned down to a smaller diameter, that is the part that fits into the holes in either handle. The titanium side is D shaped to prevent rotation. The washers also fit on the shelf pinned between the larger center of the pivot and the handle scales.

I'm sure you could over tighten the pivot and start warping the G10 and causing binding, but it is a over engineered pivot for sure.

Thanks for cracking the Leafstorm ..............KNIFE HACKER!
