At my school they now have to lock up the knives in the :o home ec. class. They think you can't just carry a knife in in your pocket? I'm not sayin i would but i'd much rather have a benchmade or sumthin else then a dull cheap kitchen knife... i dunno i just think its dumb to make the school feel like a minimun security prison (almost ;) We have to buzz in at the door and we are constantly watched by security cameras... we can't walk the halls without gettin questioned about waht we are doing and where we are going. It sucks... anyone support these restrictions?

Well, in the interests of school safety, if it keeps potentially dull and harmless knives out of the hands of competent adults (who would certainly have easy access to much better weapons if they really were crazy enough to want to do a number on their school) than I can't see how anybody could oppose it.

Seriously though, if you think you have a dopey administration then get this. The HS that I graduated from last year banned all knives and cutting implemnts, even my micra. Although I found a way around this rule (can you say Spydercard?) I still thought that it was incredibly stupid, as they would let anybody bring any tools they wanted to class for technical projects. On dozens of occasions I saw people walking around with screwdrivers, paint scrapers, nail punches and other tools that would be more effective than anything you could put on a key chain. I even had a friend who brought in a 12 lb. sledgehammer and was not bothered at all. I guess thats because it isn't a weapon.

The triumph of perception over reality. The only way to end violence is to ban humans! (We may be working on that. :p )

It is NOT just PUBLIC schools. Try to find a sharp cutting Instrument at Harvard? Also, Go just about ANYWHERE in these very sad times and everyone and everything is bunged up with our conceptually ideal attempt to make our LAND safe, but realistically impossible task. There is a better way, and WHEN the next Horrific act happens SOON, maybe then some common sense will be applied to PUBLIC Safety.......wolf:( :(
