Hello
I have a dumb buck question.
New to buck knives. I have friends that love their bucks and I can't say that the few I have handled them, I didn't like it.
Anyway, I think all these years the only thing keeping me away from a 110 is the polished brass. I think I have seen a few on ebay (atleast I think they were 110's) with a silver finish of some kind.
Can you get a 110 somewhere that doesnt have the polished brass? or a model close to it ?

Thanks
Jed

Hey JFD...
It's not dumb to ask that.
I was the same way. Meaning that I've always had a 110 but then I saw the nickel silver and that is now my favorite.
You see them from time to time at stores as a special run for something or on the auction sites.
Here's a pic of two of mine.
The one on the bottom is a 100th anniv Buck that came with the NS bolsters but was re-bladed to an upgraded steel (BG-42).
The knife on top is a 110NS FG Koa BG-42 from the Custom Shop.
Got both on that auction site that starts with a vowel.
You can link to the site below my signature and see a few others.
Other gents here have a boatload of 'em and will be able to help ya.
Welcome and hope you get your 110NS soon!!!!

You can get anything you want, from Buck's Custom Shop (well, practically anything...)

wow how cool is that
I like that.
hmmmm... now I think I need a buck

What seems to be the blade of choice for the 110. BG-42?

Wish you guys didnt tell me about that custom option. Now I must have a new buck soon.:D
Thanks
Jed

FWIW, the 110 I ordered a few weeks ago should be just like Mary Ann in the picture above. BG-42 and Flaming Koa w/ NS bolsters. Mary Ann's sister will not have FG though, never appreciated that feature. BTW, I decided on Koa from the picture on the Buck website after a lot of "what's it really look like?" thought processes. I'd have placed that order earlier if I'd seen that glowing picture.

I should have ordered that one instead of Ginger :D

Ginger; - Nickel silver bolster, mirror polished 420HC blade, smooth Buffalo handles. (oh sorry about my naked reflection in the top pic - Just disregard that :D)

nothin the matter with ginger i like it and she sure is shiney

My dream for the custom shopppeeee is that it grows to the point to where we can add better pictures of the handle choices. YOur absolutley right, if I had to go by the picture shown for flame koa, I would not even give it a second glance.
Welcome to our new forum guys! :D

Thanks all for the kind words.
And, thanks to Jim for BOTH Ginger and Mary Ann.

Let me know when Mrs. Howell arrives Jim... ;)

BTW Joe...it's the chicken/egg thing. If it had better pics, the shop may grow.

Does anyone here have a 110 in Oak w/ NS bolsters? Looking for an alternative to EDC -- not better than walnut, just different.

ras
NS, oak, FG, serrated, BG-42. I bought this last year from the custom shop. My buddy, Bruce, calls this the crossing Africa knife because he maintains that you could cross Africa with this knife and be ready for anything. ‘Jane good. Boy good. Nazis bad! Come Cheetah. We go.’

Really, it’s probably my favorite 110 to date. The oak is a nice blonde colour and has a couple of knots that give it character, a really nice knife.
