Do they make counterfeit Mcusta's...or did I score?

Picked this up at a gun show last weekend...I believe it to be a Mcusta Katana.

What leads me to believe it may be a fake is the price I paid...3$. Yep, 3 dollars, an elderly gentleman had this alongside a bunch of cheap Chinese knives. He either didn't know what it was, it's counterfeit, or he just thought it was cheap because it says Japan on it...who knows?

It is missing one of the tiny handle (standoff) screws...anyone know where I can get a replacement?

This is my first post to this forum, and I appreciate any feedback. I also apologize for the crummy pics (cheap camera).

The pictures are extremely blurry, but the blade stamp, finish and wavy san mai line look exactly like mine. I think you got a hell of a bargain there!
 
I am not seeing any pics. You have to host the photos on another website and then link to that.
 
From the pics that are there, it looks legit. We do really need better pics to curb all of our curiosity though.
