so I'm actually gonna buy my first sebenza. not totally decided on a 21 ore 25 yet but i figure i may as well shell out the extra few and get the micarta or bone or wood. and if I'm gonna do that maybe should get the damascus blade while I'm at it. so i ask you CRK owners out there. do the inlays mark up or get scuffed easy or do they protect the ti from marking up? and how does the damascus hold up? is it better or just look cool? can i actually use it or should i just...look at it.

I have a few posts around here showing mine. It gets used a lot and so I feel qualified to answer.

Damascus holds up well, it's too nice NOT to use. Looking at it will NOT grant you the full appreciation of the blade!

Micarta seems very tough. If it scratches, you'd have to be pretty darn picky to be able to spot the wear. I'd even go a step further and claim it seems to protect the Ti from scuffs and scratches somewhat. It also adds grip and girth that my large hands like.

If you are inclined, save up and spend up for what you really want and use it. I have nothing against collectors or their pursuits, but I maintain fondling and staring at a knife is a small component of enjoyment that a knife brings me. If I don't use it, I might as well save the money and simply stare at photos on the web;)

I have used all of my Sebbies. It never mattered if they were $400 or $800, if I buy a knife, I buy it to use. I have had many Damascus CRK knives. All of the blades have worked exactly as they should; flawlessly.

I have owned everything from plain titanium to mammoth ivory inlays, they all held up beautifully. If you are thinking of the micarta, they will easily last a lifetime or two.

The Micarta inlay is definitely a user all the way. It will protect the ti some and can be re-blasted if you so desire.

Yep, just spent all day at work in the mud stripping insulation from refrigerant lines. Wiped it off at the end of the day and it looks pretty much the same as it did at 8am.

As already stated the micarta Sebenza (or any CRK) makes for a superb user, even the wood and ivory inlayed knives are going to be just fine. CRKs are user knives all the way, they just have somewhat intended fields of use. :)

Micarta is tough stuff. I also daily carry and use my damascus Sebenza. Devin Thomas damascus is very impressive in all regards. Tough, corrosion resistant, holds an edge well, and gets SHARP.

Use it! ;) They are great users and, in my opinion, nothing looks better and has more character than a well worn Sebbie. I like damascus too and mine have held up great. Same with the inlays which, in my opinion, mark less than plain Ti scales.
