Do we have any other models coming out in Super Gold?

They made an endura too. They are both really good knives.

I doubt we'll see much more in SG2.

Probably not since it took 2x-3x longer than planned to deliver because of delays getting the steel.

If the delays were such an issue why has MD sold the SG2 Delica and Endura two separate times? If Spyderco would do a 2nd run of the Endura and Delica in the steel then the supply of the steel doesn't seem to be a major issue. This is a Japanese steel currently used on Japanese made models so if I would to speculate I would think it would be limited at this time to Japanese models. I also think given the flair these had with the golden back lock we might only see it in other models where a bit of golden flair works. These two criteria to me would eliminate a lot of models in the Spyderco catalog.

What I could see as some maybes
Dragonfly
Ladybug
Manbug
Police
Stretch

These fit the main criteria but models I would be less likely to expect
Caly
Karahawk
Kopa

I would guess the surplus is the result of the minimum order for the knives and aggravated by delay resulting in a lot of canceled orders.

It was over a year from the closing till the delivery for me.

They made a large batch and did t sell them all on the first drop. They didn't go out and ask for another batch to be made.

Well that sucks but the rest stands for what I would suspect as potential candidates on new models.

I'm sure SG2 is great stuff and the MD Delica and Endura are good folders. I just feel both are priced a bit too high, if you reference to the prices of recent v-tuko2, superblue, and hap40.

You can get all the models you want in SG, all you have to do is fund it. That's what Mass Drop did, they paid for the whole run of knives to be made. Spyderco was considering it themselves, but didn't because of the cost and difficulty of getting the steel. Mass Drop funded the run and waited a year to get the steel to make it.

MassDrop commissioned them from Spyderco and then Spyderco had them made I assume where they have all Delica and Endura models made.

Exactly. Just like a Blade HQ or DLT special run except the mega stores don't do the pay first and don't let you pre-order.
