Hello all,
I was just wondering if the WEPS ball joints require lubrication? What do you use? Do you lubricate the arms?

Thanks,
Dave

I have a set, and I put a drop of oil on the ball every so often and work the arms around. I am not sure if WE recommends it or not but I don't see it as anything but a possible help. As for the oil I just use blue lube because it is right there on my workbench.

Last night I coated mine with Sentry Solution "Tuf-Glide". I also wiped the arms with Finish Line "fluorinated grease" so the stones will glide more smoothly.

why, are they getting stiff? What I would recommend (what I did) was to get some heavy duty rubber gloves from walmart or something. then cut a couple of the fingers off about 1.5" down from the tip. Then cut a hole in the top and slide it over your rods and move them all the way down to the base. next just zip tie them so they don't get torn or come loose. This will offer amazing protection for your ball joints and not allow grit to get in there and wear them out, plus, you shouldn't ever need lubrication if you do this. I have had mine for about 8-12 months and have never lubricated them. They are working just fine and I sharpen ppl's knives all the time on it.
