Hey - Since I've joined here my knife drawer has grown considerably.

I pains me to have a drawer full of knives and not enjoy looking at them on a regular basis. I'd love to have some type of wall mount system that is easily opened and added to or taken from so I can enjoy my collection.

It's mainly slippies that I'd like to display, but would want to put my smaller FBs up there also.

What do you guys have?

Any pics and/or reccomendations as to where I can get something that fits my description?

I have a glass display case on my dresser that I keep my really good looking knives in, it holds about 15 knives. My fixed blades get stuck in a cross-cut section of Cedar, looks good, cheap, and smells great. My folding knives that are in constant EDC rotation get set on a shelf with my other edc things. And my other folding knives that don't see as much use get put in a knife roll, which is now about full.

You can buy counter top humidors on ebay for under 150 bucks. these are the glass ones that you often see in liquor stores. They are lockable and if you stick in a couple renewable silica dehumidifiers you can worry less about rust. Add some dividers in the trays and you're all set. Great display, safe from fingers, and a good dry environment for your steel.

Another way is to simply remove a section of dry wall between two studs, paint or panel the back, add in shelves between the studs, use window trim to finish the hole or add glass doors.

I've got about 75 folders in a Craftsmen-like tool box.Its got the top that opens up and 9 or so draws which I put dividers in.The rest of my knives are laying around the house.

That humidor seems like a very good idea. I'll have to check that out.

I also like the idea of using a shelf between two studs, but my wife and I don't see eye to eye as to where the knives should be displayed.... :)

She says the basement, but the basement is not finished. It think I'll end up with a table top display case like the humidor and put it on my night stand or dresser.

Thanks fellas!

I really like that idea, I have an extra tool box thet is taking up wasted space. It could be an easy way to keep my sharpening supplies, sheaths, boxes, and knives together.

oh wow!!!

I don't display my knives. They're either in my pocket, or locked in the drawer (the parangs, axes and other big blades) or in a pelican case.

You might try posting this question on the traditional forum. A lot of those guys have some pretty slick display cases that they like to show.

This is mine, shown several times on forum, but you did ask.

Wow - I'd imagine you made that yourself right? Looks pretty simple to put together provided I can find the glass shelves.

Although..... if I make something that big I'll have a lot of knives to buy :D

I did, and the glass was custom cut from scrap and then I took belt sander to edges to round them as to prevent cuts. It was not that expensive and the good thing about it, it can be any size you want, mine is a little over 4' high and over 6' long. The shelves ended up being spaced 1 1/2'' apart.

I have a built in, inside my closet that I display my knives on. My wife dont want them anywhere else, besides I have kids, so bad idea to put them out and about. Needless to say i spend lots of time in the closet!
