do you cache?

just wondering what others do/think regarding caching. there was a pretty good article in the may/june issue of backwoodsman.
so far here, i have only cached basic tools, in several locations across this land that i frequent. in reasonably easy accessable locations from where i "might" be if shtf (i mean, how do you know where you will be???)
extra glasses(one of the things i always edc-extra reading glasses. my far-sightedness is still excellent, but id be in a mess if i didnt have reading glasses..), knives
ferro rods, water purification, ammo
basic hunting/fishing gear
fak, etc

have not ever cached food items. other than keeping the pantry ready.
just wondering if any ya'll have cached or are considering.
what would be yr priorities?
thoughts about concealment, defending against the elements and intruders?
(animals are likely most common, but two leggeds could be...)
yr ideas and thoughts welcome here
thanks

Ive cached things in various places. I have gear up north on my wifes families farm in the middle of nowhere for example.

I have some stuff on the Katy Trail if you can find it SJ. :p

the katy trail would be an ideal location for those in that part of missouri. seems it could become a "super" hiway for travel by some.
tho the local farmers may be an obstacle...

tho i havent done a remote cache
bicycle stuff is also something i stockpile to a degree
having a bicycle but no tires nor tubes is worthless. but being both rubber/carbon products, they tend to not store forever. esp tires. for some reason(materials im guessing...) even in ideal conditions, dont seem to last as long as tubes.
reckon it all comes down to scenario. a bicycle may or may not be worthwhile depending on what else is going on.

which brings me to another question

if you do have remote caches
do you check em periodically, to determine if they have been disturbed? if food is involved have you, or do you plan on opening to check on stability?
how often? have you already? what were the conditions of yr cache?

I cached some firewood for a future campfire. Had it all stacked up neatly in a teepee shape to keep it off the ground. Someone found it , kicked it over and scattered it, just for meaness.

I would if I owned land but since I live in a city the thing to do would be to store stuff at the relatives in case the apartment burns down.

I cache firewood myself. We have Provincial parks that are just open for the summer but I hike into in the winter. I like to have some dry firewood handy for those winter hikes. I ususally put the wood in large garbage bags and stash them far back in the bush where no others will find it.

I have cached cut up wood for my tipi/stove shelter but that's about it. Guessing if I lived in an area without water in the backcountry would cashe that too.

i don't have any caches. but if things started spiralling downhill, i'd consider it.

at the moment i don't do much beyond keeping a BoB and making sure there's always 5+ kg of Rice in the house.

I've been thinking of setting up caches here and there, but have been
discouraged by having a couple of my friend's caches found and taken.
He had basics in a couple of 5 gal. plastic sealed pails that were hidden
at two different fishing lakes.

For now, I'm pretty much sticking to the BOB's as well, as that suits my
new occupation better (professional driver).

Cheers
